When we bought our 1930’s home, taking on the kitchen was inevitably going to be our biggest obstacle. While we had experience with smaller kitchens before; we knew this time it wouldn’t be as easy as, taking a wall down, and expanding the space.

In our last home we simply removed a wall, and added a beam; by doing this little trick more than doubled our space – adding enough space for a 7ft island.

Not to be misleading, the kitchen wasn’t easy; but it was large, and I had to remember the space flows.

Which brings me to another kitchen Brian and I remodeled together. His bachelor pad! Bachelor kitchen reminded us of the kitchen we were facing the most – YET the layout was a little easier.

Bachelor house was really unique, and located in an older historic district of Little Rock; that has been very unfortunately overlooked.

After he sold this house, another family made it a home for a short time; and now I am so delighted to note a friend from [my hometown] has purchased this little gem, and took it to the historic register!

Which brings me to Brentwood. It deserves its own post at some point! The Bachelor and the Brentwood kitchens followed updates the same. Meaning, I updated all the cabinetry, (sheetrock), paint, and appliances; yet didn’t change the layout.

We have another kitchen or two, but I think I’ve shared enough (for now). Check back soon for more renovation updates!
